DETAILED SYNOPSIS:
Most of us thought the mystery of the Shroud of Turin was solved when carbon-14 dating pointed to a medieval date of manufacture. Now that data is being challenged. There is new fascinating, compelling evidence to consider. In this primetime network special we'll follow the evidence and investigate a piece of cloth that tells a story of blood and sacrifice and death.

To some, the Shroud of Turin is a sacred relic - the actual burial cloth of Jesus Christ. To others it is a fraud. Even if it is not the actual cloth, it is a powerful representation of the most dramatic day in history. For believers and non-believers alike, the story about the events of that day are intensely dramatic.

But is there a connection between the cloth and the events? Between the man depicted on the shroud and the historical Jesus? We look to the story and follow the evidence. What can the blood tell us about the man? - What can the cloth tell us about its purpose? - Is there evidence in the image? - In the archeological record?

In this special we'll go in search of the answers and see the man of the shroud in new ways.
